Couture Fashion Week New York

The chill of the night was biting in the city. Nonetheless the fashion show on Saturday night was very exhilarating to watch. The show opened with singer Sinem Saniye, who warmed up the crowd with her rendition of “Love Me” a prelude to Valentine’s Day.

Indonesian Designer Asri Welas Collections were the first to hit the runway. The back to nature theme were showcased throughout the many pieces shown tonight. The vibrant colors and gold detailing of her dresses and uniquely designed head pieces highlighted the beauty and many traditions and cultures of Indonesia.

SLA Collection by Sharmooz showcased dresses and pieces that were simplistic with a bit of edgy elegance. One of my favorite looks of the night was the white palazzo pants and high collared top.

The show closed with designer Meriem Belkhayat from Morocco. She is considered to be one of the most celebrated and exquisite Kaftan designers in Morocco. Meriem Belkhayat’s creativity were apparent in her use of belted and intricately detailed designs. The kaftans showcased tonight epitomized modern elegance.
