The weather is just starting to feel like fall and all I can think about is spring fashion because of the September and October shows. I always pay special attention to New York’s fashion week to see which American brands will stand out. New York rarely seems to have presentations with obvious theatrics or politics but Spring/Summer 2016 showed some very wearable fashions. I couldn’t help but focus on designers Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne with their collections for Public School and DKNY. Their take on urban business-wear made DKNY cool again.
The most artistic presentations were Givenchy and Marc Jacobs. Givenchy was the must see show with an outdoor show on 9/11 and Marc Jacobs closed the week with a show at the Ziegfeld Theater filled with old Hollywood glamour. Many designers had romantic styled clothes including Proenza Schouler and Rodarte. My aesthetic leans toward black and white so I was pleased with many of the brands but Nicole Miller had some stunning prints that caught my eye.
